You are already able to sign up for exams, so do it now! Signing up after the sign-up deadline by sending email to professor is impossible, so if you forget to sign up, you need to take the exam later. On the other hand; remember also to withdraw your sign-up, if you are not going to take the exam after all, so that you won't lose exam rights for nothing.
